All The Luck In The World: Jane Schouten

Who: Jane Schouten of All The Luck In The World

Occupation: Graphic Designer, Artist, shop owner

Home Location: Rhenen, Netherlands

Style of Home:
An eclectic mix of vintage and handmade

Time to visit another creative elite! Today we have been invited to the colorful and lovely home of designer Jane Schouten of All The Luck In the World. I love Janes sense of style in her home, and the color and pattern just pops out at you so lovingly don’t you think? If you have read my About The Editor Page, then you will know that one of my creative goals is to live a “Zakka” filled life, and Jane’s home reminds me of the art of Zakka. She has taken the time to show so much TLC to every nook and cranny of her space. From little trinkets, to placement, to an eye full of colorful art, Jane has done a spectacular job of making her space beautifully filled with the influence of Zakka!

Ok, let’s head on over…and if you would like to stay longer, then check out her full flickr set of her home!

JuBella: Favorite Rooms/Spots & Why?

Jane: I love my bedroom because it’s a nice white, quiet place. My whole home is filled with treasures and memories so every room has it’s own charm. My kitchen and bathroom are tiny. In my next house I hope they will be bigger!

JuBella: Design/decor challenges when it came to decorating?

Jane: Fitting everything in and organizing it so it’s not too cluttered.

JuBella: Favorite shops/boutiques/websites for decorating your home?

Jane: fleamarkets and thrift stores. I love the Noordermarkt (market with lots of vintage goods) in Amsterdam, and Spitafields market and Portobello Road markets in London. Local flea markets are the best for finding real treasures. I also buy gifts and art on ETSY.

JuBella: How do you want someone who is visiting your home to feel?

Jane:
I want them to feel welcome. There is a lot to see if you have an eye for it!

Happy Monday {thrifty finds}

Monday, January 19th, 2009

ok, so I know that it is about one in the afternoon here on the east coast, but i wanted to take a moment to wish everybody a happy Monday! I cannot remember if I shared the news with you guys here, but we found out that we will be having a little girl! YAY! We are way too excited! Nevertheless things are going well as i try to organize my time and energy. I went to the thrift store briefly yesterday and picked up some fantastic CorningWaretea cups for only 50 cents and the cutest bundt cake pan for 1.10! Score! I fell in love with the color of the cake pan and just had to have it! I want to say that the bundt cake pan is of Nordic Ware Festival Cone pan, but it very well could be a knock off..can anyone tell? Nevertheless I am pleased with my purchase and can’t wait to bake a cake in it..I think I will go for chocolate dusted with powdered sugar! I am all into bundt cake shapes now and I have my eyes set on this one

Ok, that’s all for now, I just wanted to check in to see how you all were doing and to share my new found treasures!

Blue Bell Bazaar

Big thanks to Gosia Korsakowski for writing in to share her fabulous etsy shop called Blue Bell Bazaar! Many of you may already be familiar with her shop, yet it is totally new to me! It is filled with lots of vintage inspiration to adorn your living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, and all the living spaces in between and out! Her shop carries everything from vintage Scandinavian designs, old store signs, and laboratory and apothecary/pharmacy bottles, to modern china, tags, vases and so much more! I have picked out some of my favorite pieces below to share with you all. I really felt as though I was walking through a treasured flea market, and even had that “look what I found rush” when I spotted something that I liked, only it was online! Great finds, especially the vintage alphabet blocks that come in a set that spells out “Etsy”…so clever! Thanks Gosia for sharing your lovely treasures! Oh, and check out these 4th of July glasses signed by George Briard…just in time for a quaint 4th of July gathering!
