Paul Costello

Swoon! I totally love these images from photographers Paul Costello’s online portfolio! I have been coming across lots of images of greens lately. I love the room with all of the green vases and chairs….so pretty! The oreo “cake” is cute too…that would make a great set up at a kids party along with mini glasses of milk along with some cute straws!

A Space To Build A Dream On {aqua, green & white}

Monday, February 28th, 2011

I picked up the February edition of Better Homes & Gardens a while back and this space jumped out at me for many reasons. I think that the built in bookshelf is fantastic! We have two open spaces on both sides of our fireplace in which we plan to install built ins! yay! The rich hardwood floors are a dream. I cannot wait until we have hardwood floors on our lower level! Carpet + toddlers = evil! I also love the “rustic” aqua/turquoise coffee table along with the deep green and clear aqua vases. This space screams “ultra beach cottage” in my opinion, and feels very open, playful, and relaxed! This pic also has me daydreaming of us ripping out the god awful granite around our fireplace. Oh how I hate it! Brick, Slate/Stones…yes, but marble nor granite should ever be around a fireplace. It never fails to make me think of a tombstone…lol. We plan to redo ours with brick veneers one day!

Twig Hutchinson

I just can’t get enough of scrolling through the portfolios of interior, fashion, and prop stylists. I love the fact that they can make something so ordinary appear to be so extraordinary. Stylist Twig Hutchinson offers up a yummy portfolio to be inspired by. She can make something feel so antiquated, beautiful, and simple!

Victoria Pearson

I can almost expect the home of a photographer to be immaculately composed. What better profession to have than to be that of a photographer with an attention to detail, light, color, shadow, and placement! I loved this video tour of photographers Victoria Pearsons home. You may recognize her name an/or photos from the pages of Martha Stewart. Her kitchen is sublime! The neutral kitchen s gorgeous and all of the dishes lined up in such an orderly but natural way is fantastic. I must admit that it would make me nervous, I would be sure that with one slam of the door my loving little dishes would come crashing down to the floor. Nevertheless I thought you guys would like this little video tour of of her home as well as a few shots of inspirational colors from her portfolio.

Inspired Spaces {simple.fresh.modern}

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

I really love the rooms featured here. I cannot wait for the day that we have hardwood floors throughout our lower level! Carpet and I, especially the lush rough kind, have somewhat of a bad relationship..lol. Although I can imagine that the mopping and sweeping would be somewhat of a hassle, especially with 3 kiddos. I think I would much rather prefer to sweep and mop than tug out the vacuum cleaner and scrub away stains! Anyhow, Don’t you love the dining room! The lighting, the table, and that bookshelf! Oh, I love that bookshelf!

Irina Graewe {color theory}

Irina Graewa: Color Theory

It never fails to amaze me how much color can effect your mood! I am inspired by color from many different things whether it’s food, nature, or textiles, I just can’t get enough of it! I ran across the portfolio of Interior Stylist Irina Graewe. I thought that the photos in her portfolio were great examples of how colors can really set the tone of your mood and energy level. For instance, the set of blue photos give me a dreary, old, Victorian feel. While the white and cream photos makes me feel light and low key; and the rooms with pops of pinks gives off a feeling of warmth, energy, and fun! I find that I am inspired by aqua-blues, pastels, bright whites, and earth tones! What colors inspire you?

Rachel Whiting {colorific}

There is nothing more classic than an all white room accented with pops of juicy bright colors! I love these interior photos taken by London based photographer Rachel Whiting. I am constantly debating whether I should paint our walls back to white. I love how fresh and clean it makes a room feel and how you can change up the feel of a room with accent pieces!

The Bella Cottage {window shopping}

The Bella Cottage {window shopping}

It has become evident that I have a love for French furniture. I had no clue of this until I started blogging here. If I had to sum my decorative taste up into two styles, I think that I would choose North/West Africa and French. Talk about two totally different spectrums, yet I plan to fuse these two style in my future bedroom and possibly in our little girls room as well! Anyhow, I thought you all would like to do a little mini window shopping at The Bella Cottage in North Hills, California! I love these pieces!

A Vanity Affair {adorn your beauty}

A Vanity Affair

I am not necessarily the girly girl type. I mean I am 5 years overdue for a “professional” mani/pedicure and I have to be dragged out of the house to go wardrobe shopping for myself, but there is one girly item that I am dying to have in my future home…a pretty antique vanity! Just the thought of having a special place to go and sit and pamper myself amongst scented perfumes, beaded jewelry, the fragrance of eye shadow and blush, and random collections of trinkets, makes me feel all giddy and fashionably inspired!

So, with that said, i thought it would be fun to gather up a few images of vanities that I LOVE! I am especially fond of Kelly Rae Roberts (psst…be sure to check out her home & studio tour section) white vanity with the blue floral upholstered seating..oh my!

So, what about you ladies..do you you have a special decorative spot to get yourself ready for the days and nights?

My New Craft Space {spring is in the air}

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

This is my new craft/office space. It’s not a grand little space, but it does the job. It’s smack dab in our living room…giving me a birds eye view of all that’s going on with the kids and such. Organizing all of my little fabric remnants and crafty books, and sewing supplies really kicked off the season of spring. I also think I had a major urge to start nesting. With a new baby on his way, it makes me want to renew and cleanse constantly! I love spring babies! I finally started a patio garden for the year. Wish me luck. I tried to keep it simple, as I know that I will have very limited time with the new baby coming in 2 weeks! If only I can remember to water them, then all will be well!

So anyhow, this is where I spend most of my time, day and night. My favorite characters of this space are my travel cases(one which holds Amy Butler patterns at the very top), my idea to just place two bookshelves on top of my table(which I recently stripped of so many layers of paint), and my stash of beads from past jewelry projects. At the end of a long day I love sitting here, browsing the web, and enjoying a sweet dessert!

Recently I ran across two stylist that I love. Their portfolios are much different. In my opinion, I think thatBarbara Fritz captures the simplicity of it all, and Randi Brookman Harris captures expression and color! Here are a few of my favorites from each of them:
